Michael Nathanson is a Law Clerk in the Mechanical & Design Practice Group where he assists in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications and assists with patentability, validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses. His primary areas of technical experience include: aerial vehicles and systems, composite materials, consumer products, and sporting goods.
Prior to attending law school, Michael worked as a patent agent for a major golf club manufacturer, and was an engineer in the aerospace industry, developing collision avoidance systems for aircraft.
Michael is a student at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, where he is a member of the PTAB Moot Court team and was a Judicial Extern at the District of Arizona. Michael also worked in the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Clinic, where he helped medical device and social network start-ups with formation, protecting intellectual property, and financing.
Michael holds Bachelor’s degrees in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona, and a professional certificate in C/C++ programming from the University of California, San Diego. During his time as an undergraduate, Michael was a NASA Space Grant Intern, where he worked on flight and wind tunnel testing, and was an engineering intern for a large manufacturer of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Outside of his practice, Michael is a licensed pilot and enjoys introducing new passengers to general aviation.
