David W. Haars is an associate in Sterne Kessler’s Electronics Practice Group. His practice areas include the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), U.S. district court litigation, Section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and patent portfolio evaluations. He has a B.S. in wireless electrical engineering from Auburn University, and a J.D. from the University of Florida.
David has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the wireless, electrical, electromechanical, and mechanical arts, including wireless communications, software, data management, electronics, image processing, machine learning, computer networking, avionics, computer architecture, electrical power systems, clean energy systems, control systems, semiconductor processing, electrical devices, and industrial machinery.
Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, David was an associate at another patent law firm, where he was heavily involved in all aspects of U.S. and international patent prosecution. While at his previous firm, David co-authored the article, “Trademark Functionality Tips from the Beverage Industry,” published by Law360.
