Overview
Tyler S. Hoge is an associate in Sterne Kessler’s Electronics Practice Group. His practice consists of both preparation and prosecution, as well as litigation matters.
Tyler has drafted and prosecuted utility patent applications in a variety of technical areas, including wireless communications, control systems, autonomous flight systems, financial systems, consumer electronics, and software. He also has experience with a variety of programming languages, including C/C++, Matlab, VHDL, and R. Additionally, Tyler has experience drafting design-patent applications on consumer products.
Tyler received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he obtained a certificate in Intellectual Property law. While in law school, he worked in Chicago-Kent’s IP Clinic, assisting sole inventors as well as the faculty and students of various universities with diverse intellectual property matters. Matters such as identifying potential design-around options, conducting trademark clearance searches, conducting patentability searches, and drafting infringement opinions. Tyler also participated in Chicago-Kent’s IP Trial Advocacy program.
Before law school, Tyler received his M.S. and B.S. in electrical engineering from Bradley University. While attending Bradley University, he concentrated in RF systems, digital communications, and control theory. As part of a Capstone team, Tyler designed a proof-of- concept far-field wireless power transfer system that was capable of charging small consumer electronics.
