Sterne Kessler Publishes 2022 Design Patents Year in Review: Analysis and Trends Report

Washington, D.C. (February 17, 2023) – Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox has released a new publication, 2022 Design Patents Year in Review: Analysis and Trends. The report was edited by Director Tracy-Gene G. Durkin and authored by Directors Deirdre M. Wells, Daniel A. Gajewski, and Ivy Clarice Estoesta.

Following the successful release of the firm’s inaugural year-in-review report last year, the 2022 edition provides an overview and analysis of particularly significant design patent updates and trends involving design patents that were before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, U.S. District Courts, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the International Trade Commission.

Sterne Kessler held a companion webinar on February 15 featuring the editorial team discussing highlights of the cases in the report and a preview of design cases to watch in 2023. Further, because the design law landscape is constantly changing, the speakers also provided updates on important global developments in design law and practice and the implications they have for IP holders and practitioners.
