PTAB Briefing Webinar Series: International Trade Commission Section 337 Investigations: PTAB Impacts

As a way of keeping in touch with our clients and keeping them informed on PTAB developments during the COVID-19 pandemic, the firm launched the PTAB Briefing Webinar Series. This informal and interactive series will address current PTAB issues from a practical perspective. The ninth webinar was International Trade Commission Section 337 Investigations: PTAB Impacts. The speakers included Directors Uma N. Everett and Trey Powers. The webinar was moderated by Director Michael Specht.

The webinar discussed how the advent of PTAB proceedings impacted International Trade Commission (ITC) investigations. When PTAB proceedings first came to be they had a minor impact on ITC investigations, due in part to the speed of ITC proceedings. Additionally, the ITC did not place much weight on PTAB decisions. This webinar explored how the relationship between PTAB proceedings and ITC investigations have evolved over time looking at both PTAB proceeding impacts on investigations, but also PTAB decision impacts on exclusion orders.
