Director Pauline M. Pelletier will moderate the panel “Federal Circuit Practice: Cross-Cutting Practice Considerations Across the Court’s Diverse Jurisdiction” at the 2021 Bench & Bar® Virtual Conference on June 22, 2021. This event is hosted by the Federal Circuit Bar Association.

Panel Overview

The Federal Circuit considers appeals from a broad array of practice areas. This panel will explore issues that affect practice before the Court in all of those areas, and what you can learn from areas of the Court’s jurisdiction outside your own practice, helping you more effectively represent your clients. The panel will discuss issues such as: the pros and cons of filing preliminary motions such as motions to dismiss; the effectiveness of mandamus petitions; ways to streamline the issues in a case and prepare for an appeal; and when to seek en banc review. The panel will also explore best practices for the “new normal,” such as issues involved in oral arguments by telephone. The panel will frame the discussion with cases from across the Court’s different practice areas.
