Monica Riva Talley recently authored a guest post on the IP Watchdog blog discussing the unregulated domain, .bit. As Ms. Talley explains, .bit, is unlike customary domains, such as .com in a number of important ways and thus may one day change the way brands operate online.

Currently, the .bit domain presents several areas of concern for intellectual property owners. For example, its unregulated system and operational nature seem to be facilitating cybersquatting and the use of pirated content not to mention the domain is beyond the oversight or control of any central regulatory entity.
