Christian J. Berrios, Ph.D. is a student associate in Sterne Kessler’s Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group. His background and technical areas of expertise include next-generation sequencing, molecular biology, biochemistry, virology, oncology, and protein engineering. Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Christian spent 3 years at a next-generation sequencing company drafting and prosecuting patent applications, performing patentability analyses, and developing and managing patent portfolios for commercial products. In addition, Christian has several years of experience as an industry scientist developing novel nanopore-based sequencing technologies. Christian has co-authored more than 10 peer-reviewed publications, and is an inventor and co-inventor on 5 patent applications related to DNA sequencing technologies.
Christian received his Ph.D. in virology from Harvard University, where he performed research in the area of viral oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Christian received his B.S. in microbiology and genetic biology, with honors, from Purdue University.
