Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox is pleased to announce an intellectual property law writing competition, and invites entries from current law students! All students enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school during the Fall 2022 semester and expecting to graduate in 2025 are eligible and encouraged to submit entries. Three winners will be selected for awards of $10,000 for 1st place, $5,000 for 2nd place, and $2,500 for 3rd place. All three winners will also earn guaranteed interviews for Sterne Kessler’s 2024 Summer Associate program.
Competition Entries Must Include Candidate’s:
- Resume/CV
- Fall 2022 semester law school transcript (unofficial copies accepted)
- Original two-part essay
Essay Guidelines:
- Part I (300 words maximum): A short personal statement, including at least one motivating factor for choosing intellectual property law as a career area of focus.
- Part II (400-800 words): Choose a recent U.S. Federal Circuit decision (within the last two years) and discuss its immediate and/or potential impact on IP law.
Deadline:
The firm is accepting submissions from December 5, 2022 through January 31, 2023. Submissions must be fully uploaded on the firm’s career site by 5:00 p.m. EST on January 31, 2023.
Judging Criteria:
A panel of Sterne Kessler attorneys will judge all entries for clarity, grasp of the legal and technical issues, and originality.
