Director Olga Partington, Ph.D. will serve as conference chair for LSPN North America Fall 2026, delivering the opening and closing addresses.

Director Jackie W. Bonilla, Ph.D. will join the panel session, “Filing with a Fight in Mind: Building Patents That Are Actually Enforceable,” which will take a practice-first approach to enforcement strategy, working backward from the courtroom to the drafting table.

Panelists will examine how to structure secondary filings, formulations, methods of treatment, dosing regimens, and labeling-based claims so that, when infringement occurs, you can actually prove it. That means knowing what to look for in a competitor’s label, anticipating the arguments that will be made against you, and building a claim set that survives both validity challenges and the evidentiary demands of litigation.

  • Secondary filing strategy: how to sequence continuations and divisionals with enforcement in mind, so that when a competitor enters, your portfolio is positioned to respond
  • Formulation, dosing, and method claims: how to instruct outside counsel to draft them so infringement is detectable and provable
  • Building claims that survive PTAB challenge while remaining enforceable in district court litigation, and why optimizing for both requires different thinking at the drafting stage

Sterne Kessler is also a conference sponsor.
