Tarja H. Naukkarinen is a technical specialist in Sterne Kessler’s Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group. Her practice includes assisting in writing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications; assisting in writing applications for patent term extension; and assisting in patentability, validity, infringement and freedom-to-use analyses.

Tarja’s thesis research concerned selective reduction of long chain, saturated and unsaturated, α, ω-diacids and -diesters to corresponding monoalcohols. Following her M.S. degree, she was a research chemist in private industry conducting research and process development on a herbicide.

Tarja worked more than ten years in the pharmaceutical industry in Finland, part of that time as a European Patent Attorney. Just prior to joining the firm, she completed an internship with the European Patent Office in Munich.

Tarja received her M.S., magna cum laude approbatur, in organic chemistry and her B.S. in chemistry from the University of Turku.
