Before joining Sterne Kessler, she served as a law clerk at a law firm in Scottsdale, Arizona that specializes in legal services for start-ups and entrepreneurs. Her work focused on intellectual property due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property licensing, patent prosecution, trademark prosecution and litigation, prior art searches, patent infringement analysis, and data privacy issues. She also facilitated start-ups with early-stage financing and business formation. She served as a law clerk at a firm in Brooklyn, New York where her work focused on appellate litigation matters before the Second Division Appellate Department of New York.
Risa graduated from Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in computer science, political science, and women and gender studies and an international studies certificate. She also served on the executive board for Engineers Without Borders and Society of Women Engineers. She received her J.D. from Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. While in law school, Risa served on the executive board of the Intellectual Property Student Association and as a class representative for the ASU Law Student Bar Association. She was also an oral advocate for the ASU National Appellate Advocacy Moot Court team.
