Nanxi Lu, Ph.D.

Nanxi Lu, Ph.D. is a patent agent in Sterne Kessler’s Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group, where she assists in patent preparation and prosecution matters, as well as patentability, validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses. Nanxi’s technical expertise includes microbiology, environmental engineering, molecular biology, biophysics, microbiome, antibiotic resistance, colloid and interfacial processes, optical microscopy, and microfluidic devices.

Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Nanxi was a postdoctoral fellow at the Microbial Sciences Institute at Yale University. Her research focused on microbiome ecology using experimental evolution, high-throughput gene sequencing, culture-independent and culture-dependent methods. During her postdoctoral training at Northwestern University, she received an inaugural data science initiative grant to study systematic microbiome trends and a postdoctoral award from Chicago Biomedical Consortium for the study on biofilm antibiotic susceptibility and resistance.
