Merene Philip is a patent agent in Sterne Kessler’s Electronics Practice Group, where she prepares and prosecutes patent applications with an emphasis in electrical, computer, and biomedical-related technologies, including telecommunications, software, internet applications, electronics, optics, business methods, medical devices, material science, and drug delivery. Merene also has experience in drafting expert declarations in inter partes review proceedings at the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board for the patent owner.
Prior to Sterne Kessler, Merene spent four years as a technical advisor and technical specialist at intellectual property boutique firms in Dallas, TX and Washington, DC. Merene obtained a Master of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Texas A&M University, where she was inducted into Alpha Eta Mu Beta, a biomedical engineering honor society. During her time at Texas A&M, Merene conducted biomaterials research, focusing on fabrication of polymeric microparticles for encapsulation in drug delivery and optical applications.
Before pursuing graduate studies, Merene worked in the software verification department of a Fortune 500 medical device company. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering with a biomedical specialization and mathematics minor from Southern Methodist University.
