Josie Little is an associate in Sterne Kessler’s Trial & Appellate Practice Group.  Josie’s practice focuses on patent matters in federal district courts and the International Trade Commission, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and appeals at the Federal Circuit.

Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Tiffany P. Cunningham on the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Before her clerkship, Josie was an associate at an intellectual property law firm in Boston, where her practice focused on patent and copyright litigation.  Josie has provided pro bono services to tenants appearing in housing court and assisted clients in immigration matters.

Josie received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where she participated in the Detkin Intellectual Property and Technology Legal Clinic, providing freedom to operate opinions to clients. While in law school, she also competed in the Giles S. Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition, and her article, McRussia: The Weaponization of Intellectual Property, 63 Idea 306 (2023), was published in the Law Review of the Franklin Pierce Center for IP.

She earned an M.S. in chemistry from the University of Chicago, where she researched the total synthesis of natural products.  She also holds a B.A. in chemistry from Smith College, where she researched environmental analytical chemistry.
