Argirenia “Renia” Zervos



Argirenia “Renia” Zervos is an associate in Sterne Kessler’s Electronics Practice Group. Her practice focuses on patent office litigation before the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board and patent prosecution.

Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Renia was a judicial clerk for the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. As a clerk, Renia worked with multiple Administrative Patent Judges (APJs) across different technologies in both AIA trials and ex parte appeals. Through this experience, she received first-hand knowledge on how APJs analyze evidence and arguments while drafting decisions involving both the substantive and procedural aspects of patent law. She also detailed in the Office of the Undersecretary and Director to support the Chief of Staff, Senior Legal Advisors, and PTAB leadership on various policy matters including the Precedential Opinion Panel (POP), patent eligibility, and artificial intelligence.

Renia also worked as a patent examiner in Technology Center 3600, reviewing patent applications and issuing office actions for applicants in business methods. Her experience at the USPTO and at the PTAB allows Renia to provide her clients counsel on both prosecution and post grant proceedings—leveraging her unique knowledge of the internal workings of both.  

At the University of Baltimore School of Law, Renia earned a concentration in Intellectual Property and graduated with honors. She further served as an Associate Editor for the University of Baltimore Law Forum Journal. During her time in law school, she also worked as a law clerk focusing on a publication that was updated quarterly and reprinted annually that provided comprehensive guidance regarding the rules and procedures of AIA trials before the PTAB.
