Abigail Blasczyk, Ph.D., is a technical specialist in Sterne Kessler’s Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group, where she assists in patent preparation and prosecution. Her technical areas of expertise include neuroscience, electrophysiology, confocal microscopy, and immunohistochemistry. Abigail has experience related to surgical techniques for targeted delivery of viral vectors for gene therapy.

Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Abigail was an Innovation Fellow at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) where she assisted in the evaluation of cutting edge-scientific innovation and emerging technologies. Abigail earned her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from the Medical University of South Carolina in the Department of Neuroscience. She was also awarded the Distinguished Graduate Student Award from the College of Graduate Studies. Her doctoral research focused on the role of an astrocytic calcium exporter in regulating orbitofrontal cortex neuronal excitability, astrocyte-neuron synaptic interactions, and alcohol consumption. During her doctoral training, she was also the recipient of a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Award. Prior to graduate school, Abigail earned her B.S. from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.
