Overview
Tyler Tassone is counsel in Sterne Kessler’s Mechanical & Design Practice Group. His practice focuses on strategic counseling, portfolio management, and preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications. Tyler has experience working with a broad range of technologies and clients ranging from international corporations to independent inventors and start-up companies. Tyler appreciates that each client has different needs and he understands their business and goals rather than applying a one-size fits all approach to IP protection.
His primary areas of expertise include medical devices, such as drug delivery systems, analyte monitors, wearable sensors, diagnostic equipment, and assay devices. Tyler also has experience with clean and renewable energy technologies, including hydroelectric turbines and wave energy generators. Tyler has prepared and prosecuted patent applications related to a variety of consumer products, including footwear, sports equipment, apparel, bottles, vending machines, beverage dispensers, water filters, power tools, firearm and hunting accessories, and pet accessories.
Tyler earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, with distinction. While attending law school, he served as editor of the Moorad Sports Law Journal. He also worked as a judicial extern in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Tyler received his B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia, with high distinction. During his undergraduate studies, Tyler worked as a research assistant in a graduate research laboratory studying material science, and particularly polymers and nanoparticles. Tyler co-authored an article published in Langmuir Surface Science Journal relating to synthesis of polymer nanocomposites.
