Overview

Maxwell H. Furigay, Ph.D., is a student associate in Sterne Kessler’s Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group, where he assists with the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications in the chemical, materials science (including semiconductor, battery, and glass), biotechnology, and related spaces. Max’s technical areas of expertise include organic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, synthetic inorganic chemistry, electron transfer, surface properties, materials science, semiconductor design, and batteries.

Max obtained his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, his research focused on synthesizing novel small molecule organic and inorganic compounds and materials, and investigating the impact of molecular electronic structure on catalysis, reactivity, and separations. Max obtained his B.S., magna cum laude, from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, where he triple majored in chemistry, environmental science, and public policy & law. His undergraduate research focused on the development of novel fluorescent radical probes and the exploration of purification techniques arising from these syntheses.
