Josephine Kim

Overview

Josephine Kim is a director in Sterne Kessler’s Trial & Appellate Practice Group. She concentrates her practice in the area of patent litigation and has been involved in matters before federal district courts, the PTAB, and the United States International Trade Commission.

Josephine’s intellectual property experience has been principally in technical areas such as pharmaceuticals, therapeutic methods, materials science, and mechanical arts. She has experience in all stages of litigation—initial fact investigation, claim construction, depositions, motions practice, expert discovery, and trial. Josephine has navigated complicated electronic discovery issues and is also experienced in case management of multi-defendant litigations.

Josephine has been a member of Sterne Kessler’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee since 2017. Among her many contributions, Josephine has served as lead for the Minorities Affinity Group and represented the firm at the Minority Corporate Counsel Association conferences and events. Presently, she is leading the firm’s initiative for undergoing the Midsize Mansfield Rule certification process.

Josephine received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she served as executive editor for the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law. Josephine also holds a Certificate in Business and Public Policy from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her B.A. in molecular and cellular biology and English from the University of California at Berkeley.
