U.S. Biotechnology Patent Law is in its ninth edition and, as of Spring 2025, has been translated into Korean for the first time. The book focuses on key biotechnology cases decided by the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Author Jorge A. Goldstein, Ph.D., J.D., is a pioneer in U.S. biotechnology law. He is a founding member of Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox and a leader in the firm’s Biotechnology & Chemical practice group. Dr. Goldstein draws from his extensive experience as a patent practitioner, including his leading role in the pivotal In re Wands case, to take the reader through the landmark cases in biotechnology law. This book will help prosecutors, litigators, in-house counsel, and academics—whether experienced or novice—readily access any sub-area of the law and understand the legal context and current state of the law. Standing apart from other biotechnology books, U.S. Biotechnology Patent Law includes Dr. Goldstein’s insights and trends in the caselaw, critiques on outlier cases, and unifying themes in precedential decisions. The Korean translation now makes these complex legal concepts and analyses accessible for native Korean speakers.
The Korean translators are renowned professors and reputable practitioners, including Kim Mi Kyung, Professor at Seoul National University; Kim Kwan Sik, Professor at Hannam University; Lee Sang Ho, Assistant Professor at Handong University; Park Ji Young, Patent Attorney at Seoul National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation; Shim Mi Sung, Attorney; Shin Hye Eun, Attorney; Kim Du Gyu, Attorney; and Won Jae Cheon, Professor at Handong University.
The Korean translation can be found here.
Dr. Goldstein and fellow partner at Sterne Kessler, Carla Kim, will be in Seoul on May 7 to promote Dr. Goldstein’s next book, Patenting Life: Tales from the Front Lines of Intellectual Property and the New Biology.
