Weekly Take: Tariff Turbulence Is a Wake-up Call for IP Attorneys

Director Nirav Desai spoke with Managing IP on the impacts of tariffs on intellectual property strategies for clients.

Desai noted that Sterne Kessler represents clients who import finished products into the U.S. and those who manufacture domestically but rely on imported components, both of which have felt the impact of tariffs. He said, “We’re advising clients to stay the course with their current IP strategy but consider their options to pivot if high tariffs become a long-term reality.”

He also added that counsel within the firm are advising clients to build “tariff resilience” into their licensing and other agreements.
