Sterne Kessler’s Wellness Center was recently featured in a story in The Washington Post discussing the trend of healthcare offerings in the workplace.
In 2022, as part of an office redesign, Sterne Kessler opened an in-house Wellness Center staffed by CloseKnit Health. Rob Burger, the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, wanted to remove the stress and inconveniences that kept employees from visiting a doctor, stating “Working at a law firm isn’t easy. You have a lot of stress and a lot of hours. I saw people neglecting themselves.”
The Wellness Center has now become an impactful benefit for employees—85 employees have designated the firm’s nurse practitioner, Kristie Quarles Washington, as their primary care provider, and she even caught one employee’s urgent heart condition during a recent visit.
Burger is confident the Wellness Center will continue to be successful and has already saved lives, adding “It’s exceeded our expectations.”
