Amid Rapid Changes for IP Boutiques, Byron Pickard Discusses What’s Next for Sterne Kessler

Sterne Kessler’s new Managing Director, Byron Pickard, spoke to The National Law Journal about the firm’s continued strategic growth and approach to development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI).

Discussing the firm’s priorities, Pickard detailed, “At a firm level, for [2026-2027], the near-term future, AI is a big focus. We have developed, innovated some in-house tools that are quite good and acquired some additional capabilities from some outside sources.”

Pickard also discussed the firm’s growth strategy and continued investment in hiring former Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) professionals.
