Jon E. Wright, a director in Sterne Kessler’s Electronics Group and co-chair of the firm’s PTO Litigation Practice, is quoted in Law360’s “”7 Recent Fed. Circ. Rulings IP Attys Need To Know,”” discussing recent cases to be reviewed on appeal by the Federal Circuit after the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)’s decisions to institute America Invents Act (AIA) inter partes reviews.

“”This collection of cases severely limits the ability of the patent owners to undo what the patent office has done”” in AIA reviews, which have invalidated many patents, Wright said.

The limits on what can be appealed in AIA proceedings are a cause for concern for many attorneys, said Wright, since it leaves the PTAB to its own devices in interpreting the AIA. For more information regarding the top Federal Circuit rulings, visit Law360.com.
