Sometimes, it is better to collaborate as a business; other times, it is essential to differentiate. In this session, the speakers looked at the intricacies and pitfalls of this dichotomy in the context of intellectual property and standardization. How do standards organizations and their contributors deal with conflicting interests? What should a business be aware of if it chooses to participate in a standards organization? How can you still protect what makes you unique while working to advance the industry? Joe and Ryan addressed these issues as they apply to FinTech.
