Companies scrutinize expenses and ask, “What is the value of these assets?” How can you demonstrate value in a defensive-minded world? This panel discussed how we can represent a company and show value if it does not want to be seen as trying to extract licensing revenue from its competitors. Many companies build patent portfolios for cross-licensing or other risk mitigation. Speakers addressed how to gather data to show where money is spent, how to show ROI, and how to calculate IP value for different purposes, such as M&A.
