Director Jorge A. Goldstein, Ph.D.‘s book, Patenting Life: Tales from the Front Lines of Intellectual Property and the New Biology, was reviewed in the PharmR Journal by Dr. Marco Stief, LL.M., a partner at Maiwald GmbH.
In his review, Stief remarks: “The book in question here is not a specialist legal text in the traditional sense. It offers neither a systematic account of biotechnology patent law nor an in-depth examination of the relevant case law. Nevertheless, I felt the book was worthy of a review, particularly for readers of the journal *Pharmarecht *. This is because Goldstein provides insights into the scientific, economic and legal developments against which many of the issues that continue to occupy pharmaceutical and life sciences law today have emerged: the translation of university research into marketable products, the development of new medicines and biologics, technology transfer and intellectual property rights, as well as medicine prices, competition and access to innovative therapies.”
