WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 17, 2017: Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C. is pleased to announce that the firm continues to be a leader at the Patent, Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), according to data recently released by Docket Navigator.

The firm remained the top law firm for respondents at the PTAB for the second consecutive year. Sterne Kessler was the respondent law firm for 105 petitions filed in 2016, up from 97 in 2015. On the petitioner’s side, the firm held the second spot representing 68 petitioners. Overall, the firm secured a second place standing among law firms representing petitioners and respondents combined, with 173.

The data also shows that Sterne Kessler director Robert Greene Sterne filed on behalf of 49 respondents in 2016, the most of any other attorney. In addition, directors Jason D. Eisenberg and Lori A. Gordon, as well as Sterne were noted as leaders at the PTAB for having been involved in more than 50 PTAB disputes filed in 2016.

Sterne Kessler has been a leader at the PTAB since the Board was established in 2012, having filed more than 600 America Invents Act proceedings. The firm has represented clients in 550 inter partes reviews (IPRs), 50 covered business method reviews (CBMs), seven post grant reviews (PGRs), and three derivation proceedings (DERs). Sterne Kessler attorneys handled over 100 AIA proceedings filed in 2016, a notable milestone that the firm previously attained in 2014 and 2015.
